Ocea Workboats - for fish farming and aquaculture
2008.07.11
Ocea AS har purchased the rights and drawings for the Risnes Marine Partner (RMP) workboats. All RMP employees are now employed by Ocea. The boats will largely be produced and fitted at Ocea’s partner-yard in Estonia.
Built for speed and efficiency
The workboats from RMP are constructed and built to last, with an emphasis on strength and safety. By introducing the boats under the Ocea brand, the company is fulfilling the demand from the industry for greater capacity workboats with stability and greater speed. The workboats are available in various sizes and constellations up to 15 meter length. They are produced under the regulations of Nordisk Båtstandard (Nordic Boat Standard) for professional vessels. The boats are built in steel with aluminium pilot house. This provides for a strong and robust workboat – built to last. The hulls – having a high cruising potential, up to 20 knots - are developed in cooperation with Vik Sandvik AS
Ocea: Growth
In 2007 the Ocea Group had a total turnover in excess of NOK 270 million. Substantial growth is expected in 2008. Recently the investment company Borea acquired a controlling stake in Ocea. UIsmo, the Idar Ulstein investment company, is the second largest investor in Ocea. “Our strong owners provide us with a solid foundation for further development within Ocea,” says Ocea Holding general manager, Hans Runshaug.
Ocea grows through quality
Acquiring the Risnes Marine Partner workboats is the most recent in a series of take-overs. This year and in 2007, Austevoll-based Ocea has acquired companies- in Norway and abroad. Thus far Ocea Holding has taken over six companies.
2 weeks ago, Ocea announced that the contract was signed for acquiring Prona in Chile.
- “We are pursuing a clear-cut growth strategy. Our aim is to become a global leader in steel and plastic cages, feed barges, feed systems and software for production management and harvest planning. We are on schedule,” says Hans Runshaug. Today’s inclusion of the product area "Ocea Workboats" is yet another proof of that.

Ocea company Mercatus signs major contract
2008.07.07
- HAVdyrkerne is focused on being able to document the flow of all biomass passing through their members companies' facilities; from roe to market-ready fish.
In such a process, AquaFarmer will be a valuable tool indeed. The system also complies with governmental requirements with regard to reporting and stock control, says Johannesen.
Mercatus' Knut Eikeland is thrilled: He is confident that the well-tried and robust Mercatus systems will comply 100% with the customer requirements. Furthermore the group HAVdyrkerne will be able to extract a number of synergies from the system with regard to the handling of information, workflow analysis and fascilitating prognoses.
- We look at this contract as the starting point of a rewarding cooperation, to the benefit of both parties. HAVdyrkerne has proven itself as a solid organisation, creating long-term value for its members. This makes the cooperation even more interesting and challening for Mercatus, says Knut Eikeland from Mercatus.
